🇺🇸 9.11.01 | NEVER FORGET

Standing here at the World Trade Center is different when the names and memories are personal.

On September 11, 2001, I lost my uncle John Santore, an FDNY firefighter with Ladder 5. He was one of the firefighters who ran toward danger while thousands of others were trying to get away.

I also lost two friends I grew up with and went to school with, and a colleague.

Every time I return to this place, I think about them.

I think about the nearly 3,000 lives taken that morning. The firefighters, police officers and first responders. The people simply going to work. The passengers and crews aboard the planes. The families who waited for loved ones who would never walk back through their doors.

Twenty-five years later, the skyline has changed.

The memories haven’t.

Seeing One World Trade Center rising above Lower Manhattan is powerful. For me, it will always represent both tremendous loss and the strength to keep moving forward without forgetting those who aren’t here to move forward with us.

Today I remember Uncle John.

I remember my friends.

I remember my colleague.

I remember them all.

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET.

Where were you on the morning of September 11, 2001?
