Ever wondered what happens behind the scenes for our birds at DZCA? Let us introduce you to the Avian Propagation Center: the heart of our entire bird department! 🐦

Tucked away behind the scenes, the APC is where the magic happens. From incubating eggs and hand-rearing chicks to supporting Endangered and Vulnerable bird species through careful propagation, this facility is the base of operations for our entire bird team.

But it's not just for the birds under the bird department's care. The APC serves as a resource for every bird that calls DZCA home, from the birds in Toyota Elephant Passage to our Hoofstock habitats.

A typical day starts with the whole team gathering to sort out priorities like animal health checks, medications, cleaning, feeding, and enrichment opportunities that keep the birds mentally sharp and thriving.

You can actually see some of the APC's work for yourself! Head to the Nurture Trail to find crane yards and two mixed species habitats connected directly to the center.

Stay tuned for more behind-the-scenes looks at the Avian Propagation Center!
