🍎🍏Let’s make homemade apple strudel scones paired with some rose lemonade to take with us to Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long at the Hollywood Bowl!

Apple Strudel is one of Austria’s iconic desserts but I wanted to add in a bread component to make it extra on theme for The SoundofMusic! Who doesn’t love jam and my version of bread this year, along with “raindrops on roses.” :)

A few fun facts about The Sound of Music:

The movie premiered in 1965 and won 5 Academy Awards, including Best Picture

“Edelweiss” was the last song ever written by RodgersandHammerstein (and nope, it’s not actually an Austrian folk song!)

The music remains timeless. “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Thing” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” still give chills 61 years later

And let’s not forget—Melissa Peterman’s pre-show costume contest is everything. The laughs, the wild costumes, the energy—it always sets the stage perfectly before the Bowl turns into one giant chorus full of cheers and boos depending on who is on the screen.

Every year, when “Edelweiss” fills the air, I end up in tears under the stars. Truly one of the most magical nights of the year. You have to go to really experience it

Here’s to scones, roses, laughter, and memories that keep this being one of our favorite family traditions every year. Join me at the HollywoodBowl on Saturday, September 26th. Tickets are still available!
