## Caption

Just months after the twin towers collapsed to the ground 25 years ago in New York City, most of the steel that fortified the 110-story buildings in Manhattan had been shipped overseas to feed the global scrap metal market.

But many of the pieces that remained stateside—nearly 2,000 of them—have gradually made their way to all 50 states to be displayed as part of solemn memorials, including several installed in #Colorado.
