How to run without getting tired?

1. SLOW DOWN
Most people run way too fast when they first start. You don’t need to be out of breath every run. Find a pace where you could actually hold a conversation. Easy days should feel easy.

2. CONTROL YOUR BREATHING
Don’t overcomplicate this. Try to keep your breathing relaxed and controlled. If you’re gasping for air a few minutes into the run, that’s usually a sign you need to back off the pace.

3. RELAX YOUR BODY
Drop your shoulders. Relax your hands. Let your arms swing naturally. When your entire body is tense, you’re wasting energy you could be using to keep moving forward.

4. BUILD SLOWLY
You don’t become a good runner overnight. Add a little bit of time or distance each week and give your body time to adapt. Consistency > one massive workout.

5. STOP THINKING ABOUT THE WHOLE RUN
Don’t think, “I still have 7 miles left.” Get to the next mile. The next light pole. The next turn. Break the run into smaller pieces and keep stacking them.

Send this to someone starting their running journey.
