We see the pattern. Watch The rich young ruler was loved before he refused. Judas was served before he he betrayed. Barabbas was set free before he could ask. In each each instance every time love goes first. So if I can very pastorally but firmly say to you stop sitting there thinking that God doesn't love you. Yes you've made mistakes so have I. Yes there's a big gap between where you are and then the man or the woman that God's calling you to be same with me. But in each instance in every way there is nothing that we could ever do let me say it again that we could ever do that could earn his love and nothing that we could ever do that could unqualify us for it.
