The southernlivingmag Idea House officially opens this Friday, and it has me thinking back on the entire design process from the very beginning. Before there was a room, there was a moodboard.

This was the starting point for the primary bedroom and really set the tone for where I wanted to take the space. Warm greens, soft yellows, natural textures, classic patterns and rooms that felt layered but still relaxed. I love looking back at these early references now and seeing how many of those initial ideas found their way into the finished room. I’m so excited for you to see!
