Billy Joel revealed he had surgery to treat a disorder that was causing fluid to build up in his brain, impacting his balance and creating a rocking sensation he likened to “being on a boat.”

The condition, which he announced in 2025, is called normal pressure hydrocephalus, or NPH. It also impacted his hearing and vision, he has said, forcing him to cancel more than a dozen concerts through this summer.
