Young people are already driving change to address the world's water challenges. Now, UNESCO is giving them a stronger voice.

At the 27th session of UNESCO's Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) Council, Member States approved Youth4Water, the first IHP flagship initiative dedicated entirely to young people.

Built around three priorities identified by youth themselves: education and capacity development, career opportunities and innovation, and meaningful participation in water governance, Youth4Water will strengthen young people's role in shaping sustainable water solutions worldwide.

Through regional hubs across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Small Island Developing States, Europe, and the Middle East and North Africa, the initiative will connect youth with learning opportunities, professional networks, research, innovation and decision-making processes.

Youth4Water marks a new chapter: moving from consulting young people to making them active partners in shaping the future of water.
