Pep rally, merch games, ranch, and a full American takeover of the city. Our first ever college football tailgate was not in the US, but right in the middle of Dublin, Ireland. It was a surreal experience watching American fans completely take over the city streets. College football took over Dublin and we walked straight into our first tailgate. The weather was wrong, the ranch was legal-limit, and the streets were purple and light blue. As a British couple adjusting to life abroad, seeing the pep rallies, the merch, and the sheer enthusiasm for the game was a major lesson in American culture. We even got to sample some classic game-day eats, though we are still trying to figure out why the ranch dressing was everywhere. This trip was a wild look at how these traditions travel across the ocean.
