Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Kentucky Wildcats - Highlights | 2026 Regular Season Week 2, 09/12/2026

Kentucky 17, Alabama 45
Kroger Field, Lexington, KY. September 12, 2026

12th-ranked Alabama overcame a sloppy first half and a 17-13 halftime deficit, outscoring Kentucky 32-0 after the break to run away with a 45-17 SEC-opening win in Lexington.

The opening half was rocky for the Crimson Tide. Kentucky linebacker Mi'Quise Humphrey-Grace intercepted a Keelon Russell pass and returned it for a touchdown, and Alabama linebacker Luke Metz answered in kind with a 34-yard pick-six of his own, but Kentucky's offense, led by Kenny Minchey, stayed steady enough to carry a 17-13 lead into the break after a Kentucky field goal on the final play of the half. Two promising Alabama scoring chances in the first half had to settle for field goals instead of touchdowns, part of a frustrating opening 30 minutes for Kalen DeBoer's team.

Alabama flipped the script after halftime. Conor Talty's third field goal of the day cut the deficit to 17-16, and running back Daniel Hill, who finished with a career-high 104 rushing yards, punched in a go-ahead score set up by a Devan Thompkins strip sack that led to an EJ Crowell touchdown. Hill's 31-yard run late in the third quarter set up another Crowell score to push the lead to 31-17, effectively putting the game away. Russell found Rico Scott for his first passing touchdown of the season in the fourth quarter, and Trae'Shawn Brown capped the scoring to make it 45-17.

Russell finished 18 of 31 passing for 188 yards, a touchdown, and two interceptions, while Kentucky's Minchey went 18 of 31 for 146 yards, a touchdown, and an interception, managing just 62 total yards of offense in the second half as Alabama's defense clamped down.

The win improved Alabama to 2-0 overall and 1-0 in SEC play, marking the first time in DeBoer's Tuscaloosa tenure that he's won after trailing at halftime. Kentucky fell to 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the SEC, as head coach Will Stein became the ninth straight Kentucky coach to lose his first SEC game at the helm.
