A man says he got a phone call from someone who sounded almost identical to his wife. She told him she had forgotten her wallet and needed his credit card to get gas

The catch? His actual wife was sitting right beside him. And she drives a Tesla too. 😳

According to him, the voice sounded so convincing, with the same timing and speaking style, that he could have easily believed it if the circumstances were different.

He suspects the call may have involved an AI voice clone or some type of real time voice filter, although there’s no recording to confirm exactly what happened.

AI powered voice impersonation scams are becoming a serious concern. If someone you know suddenly calls asking for money, card information, or access to an account, verify their identity using a phone number you already have saved. A private family codeword can also provide an extra layer of protection.
