## Caption

Visiting Wastewater Treatment plants as an #engineer and collecting samples, here is what I found:

Tampons. Derogatively named ‘beach whistles”. They have to be fished out

Very loud, but many people did not wear hearing protection

Very smelly

White, male environment.

2 wks maternity leave, with jobs involving climbing along tanks and equipment

Were very helpful though in my sample collection and open to students visiting

Innovative technology to generate biofuel and to remove nutrients from the water that could cause algal blooms
