Republican Vice President JD Vance said the coming midterm election is a fight over "commonsense versus crazy," and he cast Iowa governor candidate Rob Sand as the face of extremist Democrats.

With as many as three swing House seats, a competitive U.S. Senate race and a high-profile governor's contest on the ballot, Iowa has emerged as a key battleground, despite its heavy Republican voter registration advantage.

Vance's stop in Council Bluffs on Sept. 18 is the latest in a string of high-profile Republican visiting in support of candidates.
