If you’re heading to Yosemite National Park, here’s a road trip tip: Take scenic Highway 140! 🏞️ Use this guide to hit the hotspots on this beautiful route to the park; there’s enough to see and do on the way that you could make a whole day of the drive! 🚙 First, stop in Mariposa, a little Gold Rush town where you can browse shops, check out local art and antiques, and get something good to eat. Keep an eye out for colorful murals around town! 🖼️

A few miles up the road in Midpines, stop at Junebug Cafe located at Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort—a Boy Scout camp-turned-family glamping destination. ⛺ It’s super cozy inside, but if the weather’s nice, head out to the wraparound deck to take in the mountain views. ⛰️ If you’re heading to Yosemite next, grab a packed lunch to go. 🥪

Hit the road again and drive along the winding Merced River, with mountain vistas at every turn. 🚗 As you get closer to the park, the scenery gets more dramatic: You’ll pass through the iconic Arch Rock entrance and almost immediately see granite cliffs peeking through the trees. 🪨 When you reach Tunnel View, on Highway 41, adjacent to Highway 140, you’ll get that classic Yosemite panorama.

Last, find a spot along the Merced River, unpack your picnic lunch, and take some time to enjoy the iconic Yosemite views. 🌲 When you leave, get back on Highway 140: Stop in for a meal at 1850 Restaurant and Brewery, then soak up history at the California State Mining and Mineral Museum. ⚒️ Make one last stop at the Merced Fruit Barn! 🍎

This year marks 100 years of Highway 140, making 2026 the perfect time to drive the “All-Year Highway”—named because its lower elevation keeps it ice-free and open year-round. 🚘
