A nominee for the BritishFashionCouncil’s Vanguard prize, Steve_O_Smith staged a salon-style show, articulating the backstory behind each look as it graced the audience. The palette was intentionally tight: a creative challenge to push himself against.

Liverpool-born Patrick__McDowell’s latest collection departed from the cult Wong Kar-wai film, In The Mood For Love, leaning on the verdant colour scheme and their own, signature freesia appliqués. A first for the designer, the show closed with a structure-less, floating bridal gown to the tune of Etta James’s song ‘At Last’.

Design duo ChopovaLowena took over a bowling alley, sending out an army of witches, vampiresses, and contemporary emos clad in mishmashed tulle skirts and bedazzled peasant fare. Faux fur patchwork and Peruvian wools joined the mix, alongside psychedelic anime prints and a brain-melting IDM breakbeat soundtrack.

Charlotte Knowles and Alexandre Arsenault’s collection was an exercise in dishabille, built around disjointed gowns-cum-lingerie and flashes of sheer. Spliced denims — once the brand’s headline category — became a subplot, setting the stage for scrunched leather rosettes and warped trench coats.

Despite billing itself as a presentation, the Geordie__Campbell slot did indeed feature a show: seedy, louche and boyish. The outing — styled by Vogue alum Alex Kessler — riffed on an early cruising scandal in New York, delivering high-shine jackboots and a urine-toned take on prep.

PaulineDujancourt is the French Central Saint Martins graduate on the cusp on something big. Her latest offering — each look symbolizing a collected teardrop — continued her featherweight vision of femininity, weaving looms and Japanese organza into gossamer evening gowns.
