#LondonFashionWeek, day two: From bedroom-bound angst at AshleyWilliamsLondon to glitch couture at PetraFagerstrom, here’s what you don’t want to miss from LFW’s second day.

BritishFashionCouncil CEO Laura_Weir gave a rousing speech at the opening breakfast, welcoming incoming chair Pavita Cooper. Cooper’s predecessor David_Pemsel gave his last speech at the organization, before handing over to MayorofLdn.

In keeping with the quintessentially British order of the week, MarksandSpencer presented an uplifting collection of well-cut staples — all immediately shoppable and democratically priced. Platters of “picky bits” followed the show.

Another breakout from the PaulSmithsFoundation, PetraFagerstrom’s debut show introduced a new audience to her glitched-out take on craft, combining AI design mishaps with wrought handiwork and trompe-l’oeil pleats. The exacting embellishments and gutted flanks made a compelling case for demi-couture.

This season, AshleyWilliamsLondon’s girls returned to a childhood bedroom, embracing an awkward but charmingly zany wardrobe. Busts were skew-whiff, plushies stuffed into stockings served as accessories, and textures came creased like unwashed linen.

_LuluKennedy’s talent incubator, Fashion_East, presented three resourceful — sometimes scrappy — propositions of chic on the runway: Shshsheep’s cigarette-toting it-girls, Jacek_Gleba’s whimsical sprites, and Goyagoma’s ode to Bahamian ease. In an adjacent gallery, Mayhew__’s mudlarked attire was presented in an editorialized shoot.

SusanFangofficial’s collection was an exercise in lightness, juxtaposing delicate 3D-printed lace trims and smocked baby doll dresses against the Barbican’s brutalism. Pastel and cotton-candy scrimps joined the signature “air flower” adornments in a riot of romance.

For his latest outing, Aaron.Esh injected charges of neon into his usual muted palette, taking the brand from indie sleaze into its natural successor: nu rave. Silhouettes remained typically sharp and scanty, while leathers were tweaked with croc effect — louche but premium.
