A Tucson realtor who was duct-taped and zip-tied to his first-class seat during an alleged mid-flight rampage now says he remembers none of it.

Layne Arthur Lundeen, 67, told a Maryland judge he remembered drinking two vodka and orange juices before the incident. His next memory, he claimed, was waking up in jail after American Airlines Flight 618 was diverted to Baltimore.

Passengers say Lundeen suddenly began yelling racial and homophobic slurs, striking people and fighting those who tried to restrain him. A retired law enforcement officer and another passenger eventually secured him to his seat with duct tape and zip ties.

Police say Lundeen struck an officer after they removed the restraints following the emergency landing. He appeared shocked when his charges were read in court, reportedly asking, “I assaulted a police officer?”
Lundeen was a Tucson realtor affiliated with Long Realty. The company cut ties with him after video of the incident spread online, saying the alleged behavior did not reflect its values.

He now faces second-degree assault and disorderly conduct charges. Lundeen was released pending his next court appearance and ordered to avoid alcohol and drugs. The allegations have not been proven in court.
