A Goodyear man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his roommate at an unlicensed behavioral health group home.

Reno Caddo was 24 when he lost his life at the West Valley home in April 2025. His roommate, Glynn Peaches, 46, initially claimed self-defense after police said the two had been drinking.

Peaches pleaded guilty Monday and now faces 15 to 29 years in prison. His sentencing is set for November 9.

But reporting from FOX 10’s Justin Lum raised bigger questions about the home where Caddo was living.

State health records showed the house was not licensed. Police records also showed residents were receiving treatment from a Phoenix behavioral health clinic that billed AHCCCS, Arizona’s Medicaid agency.

Peaches had also previously served 20 years in prison for manslaughter before being released in 2023.

Caddo’s family has spent more than a year asking how their 24-year-old relative ended up living in an unlicensed home with Peaches while his behavioral health treatment was being paid for through Medicaid.

The case comes amid broader scrutiny of Arizona’s behavioral health and sober-living system, including investigations into unlicensed homes and Medicaid fraud involving vulnerable patients.

Caddo’s family is still looking for answers.
