IVC WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO MIRAMAR, 3–1

Miramar controlled the shot advantage in the first half, but the IVC Warriors played strong defense to keep the match scoreless going into halftime.

Early in the second half, IVC’s Amy Garcia (#6) took advantage of a rebound after the Miramar goalkeeper was unable to secure the ball, scoring to give the Warriors a 1–0 lead.

Miramar responded with a goal from #9 to tie the match at 1–1. Midway through the half, Miramar’s #10 connected on a 30-yard shot to take a 2–1 lead. In the 33rd minute of the second half, #10 added her second goal on a penalty kick to make the final score 3–1.

Isabella Pacheco (#5), Daniela Rodriguez (7), Ninell Pelayo (16) and Sandra Ramirez (24) delivered strong defensive efforts throughout the match for the Warriors.

Following the tough loss, Amy Garcia and her teammate Azul Mercado shared their thoughts on the match and what the Warriors can build on moving forward. 

IVC will add a L on their 1-2-1 season, with a 2-0 win over Glendale, a 2-2 tie with College of the Desert, and losses to Cerritos and Southwestern. The Warriors will look to bounce back on Friday, Sept. 18, when they travel to MiraCosta College for a 2 p.m. match.
