Aphex Twin’s fingerprints in rap run deeper than you’d think 👨‍💻👇

A ton of rappers have sampled him over the years, ranging from SoundCloud legends like Lil Peep & Xavier Wulf all the way to current stars like fakemink.

Kanye West’s “Blame Game” is probably the most notorious of them all, because he was never actually allowed to sample “Avril 14th.” Mike Dean ultimately re-played the piano melody by hand rather than using a direct audio file of the sample, which may have been a workaround for clearance or costs.

All of these other samples, however, have been approved by the pioneer of ambient music. Most recently, Lucy Bedroque got cleared to sample “19” in “STONE IN FOCUS” off his new album 👀
