🔎 TODAY’S DAILY SIFT: THE ORBIT

Space is quietly becoming something different.

Territory.

The United States has publicly acknowledged deploying weapons in orbit.

China responded by warning that continued military expansion could trigger a space arms race. 

Last night SpaceX launched another classified Space Force mission.

Its second in six days. 

Now follow the money.

Impulse Space raised another $308 million, bringing its Series D to $808 million.

Its mission is not simply getting payloads into orbit.

It wants to move them once they are there. 

EnduroSat raised another $205 million to scale satellite manufacturing. 

Different stories.

Same signal.

Orbit is developing infrastructure.

Launch.

Transportation.

Manufacturing.

Communications.

Observation.

Defense.

And Starship is preparing for a test intended to reach orbit and deploy Starlink V3 satellites. 

For decades the question was:

Can we get there?

The next question is much bigger:

Who controls what happens once we arrive?
