Yesterday the FDA launched a pilot designed to shorten the path between discovering a promising drug and testing it in humans.

The agency says that process can currently take up to two years in the United States.

China and Australia can move faster. 

Today Novo Nordisk announced it is working with Anthropic to use Claude to accelerate drug development. 

Different stories.

Same signal.

AI is making biological discovery faster.

Now the rest of medicine has to catch up.

Regulation.

Manufacturing.

Clinical trials.

Evidence.

Iteration.

Yesterday GSK also committed up to $750 million for a cancer therapy originating from Chinese biotech Chimagen. 

The competitive advantage in biotech is changing.

It is not simply who has the best molecule.

It is who can move from hypothesis to human evidence fastest without sacrificing rigor.

That matters especially for longevity.

We already have thousands of ideas about how aging might be modified.

The bottleneck is proving them.

The next revolution in healthspan may therefore come from something less glamorous than a miracle drug:

A dramatically faster scientific loop.
