This might be the COLDEST edit we’ve seen of Lane Kiffin💀

Lane Kiffin is returning to Oxford this weekend, and it might be the most hostile environment of his coaching career.

Less than 10 months ago, Kiffin was the head coach at Ole Miss. He spent six seasons transforming the Rebels into a national contender, winning 55 games and eventually leading the program to its first College Football Playoff appearance. 

But Kiffin never coached that Playoff run.

Just two days after Ole Miss defeated Mississippi State in the 2025 Egg Bowl, Kiffin left Oxford to become the new head coach at LSU. Ole Miss promoted defensive coordinator Pete Golding, who then guided the Rebels through their historic postseason run. 

Now, Kiffin is coming back.

And he isn’t returning with just any team.

No. 7 LSU travels to face No. 8 Ole Miss on Saturday night in the Magnolia Bowl, marking the first meeting between the programs with both ranked inside the AP Top 10 since 1962. Both teams enter the game 2–0. 

Oxford is preparing accordingly.

Ole Miss has increased security for the game, including additional law enforcement and mounted patrols, while school officials have emphasized that fans are prohibited from rushing the field. The game is already sold out, and ESPN’s College GameDay will broadcast from The Grove for the first time since 2021. 

Kiffin already knows what is waiting for him.

He said this week that there will be plenty of attention and “hatred” directed toward him, but believes that could actually allow his players to focus on playing football while much of the emotion is directed at their head coach. 

The matchup itself doesn’t need much extra motivation.

LSU and Ole Miss have played every year since 1945, and their last six meetings are split 3–3. Ole Miss won the most recent matchup 24–19 in Oxford last season. 

Lane Kiffin is going back to Oxford.

Saturday night should be absolute chaos.
