📷 HEISMAN PORTRAIT OF THE WEEK: Angelo Bertelli 💥

Angelo Bertelli made history as ndfootball's first Heisman Trophy winner in 1943 and the first T-formation quarterback to earn the award. He also became one of the few players to both win the Heisman and finish as a runner-up during his career.

Known as the “T-formation magician,” Bertelli led the nation in passing as a sophomore and continued to excel over three seasons, losing just three games during that span. His 1943 campaign was especially remarkable, throwing 10 touchdowns in just six games before being called to serve during World War II, yet still doing enough to secure the Heisman.

Bertelli’s impact extended beyond the field, serving in the Marine Corps during World War II before returning to football and later being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1972.
