Charles Woodson became umichfootball's third Heisman Trophy winner, joining Desmond Howard and Tom Harmon, and made history as the first primarily defensive player to win the award in the two-platoon era.

A dynamic two-way star, he excelled at cornerback while also contributing at wide receiver and as a punt returner. As a junior, he recorded seven interceptions and helped lead Michigan to an undefeated regular season, a Rose Bowl victory, and a share of the national championship.

Selected fourth overall in the 1998 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, he went on to an 18-year NFL career that included a Super Bowl XLV title with Green Bay. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
