📷 HEISMAN PORTRAIT OF THE WEEK: Les Horvath 💥

Les Horvath made history as ohiostatefb's first Heisman Trophy winner. Born in South Bend, Indiana, and raised in Ohio, Horvath emerged as a multi-sport standout before enrolling at Ohio State in 1940.

After starring on the Buckeyes’ 1942 national championship team, Horvath returned in 1944 while attending dental school, leading Ohio State to a perfect 9–0 season, a Big Ten title, and a No. 2 national ranking. He rushed for 905 yards, passed for 345, ranked among the national leaders in rushing and total offense, earned unanimous All-America honors, and was named Big Ten MVP on his way to winning the Heisman Trophy.

Following graduation, Horvath served in the U.S. Navy, played three seasons of professional football, and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1969.
