Coming soon - exciting updates from our community farm in Burkina Faso!

Over the past year, we have been exploring new ways to store and distribute water to ensure accessibility and sustainability for our individual farmers, and we are excited to share our solution. Stay tuned for more details!

In the meantime, our farm members have been busy planting nurseries of peppers, tomatoes, and eggplants to prepare for the upcoming rainy season starting in a few weeks. We can't wait to see the harvest in a few months!

The objective of our community farm is to improve food security for the local community. But what exactly do we mean by 'food security'?

While food security focuses on availability and access to nutritious food, it is also about promoting sustainable agricultural practices, safeguarding biodiversity, and minimizing environmental degradation. 

With nearly 250 million people in sub-Saharan Africa suffering from chronic malnourishment, and food insecurity 4x higher than other parts of the world (World Hunger, 2018), finding ways to solve these challenges will directly improve poverty alleviation efforts for millions of people. 

Food security is also tightly linked to our other focus issues: water and education. We strive to develop holistic solutions with our community partners that link these three areas together for a sustainable, replicable community solution!
