🇧🇫 More news from Burkina Faso, this time from our community farm!

🌧️ As we anticipate the start of the next rainy season at the end of May, the farm members are hard at work preparing a nursery for several key crops.

🍅 Here we have several community farmers, supported by our agriculture coordinator Weilfried, tilling the ground for planting peppers, eggplants and tomatoes.

🌱 After 2 - 3 weeks, as the seedlings germinate and breakthrough the surface, they will be replanted in the main growing areas to be nourished by the upcoming rains.

🇧🇫 As a landlocked country with limited natural resources, Burkina Faso is primarily dependent on agriculture for both food and income. However, frequent droughts and floods caused by climate change have had a devastating impact on crop yields.

🧑‍🌾 Our community farm seeks to provide farmers with year-round, consistent, solar-powered irrigation so they can expand their livelihoods without being susceptible to the effects of climate change and limited local resources in rural areas.

📅 So what happens if the rains are delayed? That's why our farm is solar irrigated - water is available year round!
