From murals of Christina Koch and DJ Burns to artwork celebrating human connection, along with all sorts of visuals in between, murals can be found across campus in fascinating forms. 

The process to design and create looks different for every artist, and varies based on where the actual mural is being created, whether outdoors or in a gallery. Different mural artists who have worked on NC State’s campus were able to share what the process is like, and what their goals are when creating public art.

Alan Yeh, a Raleigh mural artist, said the freedom of the wall for everyone is a double-edged sword; artists can paint on the wall at any time, but their work is also at risk of being painted over. 

Although Yeh acknowledges that his murals might not last, he hopes that their impact will.
