#SaturdayStorytime - New Kids on the Block
Back in 2021 I was real fit and with the recent retirement of mathewfras some people were even calling my shot to win the games. Unfortunately for me in a lab somewhere in Idaho justinmedeiros34 was being created to ruin my life and was about to go on a two year tear…
Luckily for me Justin is very good people, and having the good fortune to chance to stand next to him so much in 2021 I got to know him (and his family) quite well. 
His rookie year was 2020 which was half online then half with only 5 people so the 2021 games was still a big coming out party for JM. 
Justin and I have a few fun similarities but I think my favorite is that our families are both pretty boisterous 😂. My family is too good at meeting everyone in the venue and by the second day of competition they’ve got a friend in VIP somewhere shutting drinks, they’ve converted a whole cheering section and know all the security guards. On occasion it’s a lot when I’m competing to contend with their energy 😂. To my pleasant surprise Justin’s family is the exact same, and to both of our relief they love each other. For the last bunch of years they connect in the stands, entertaining each other and occasionally go on trips which helped our focus a lot. These days I get as many cheers from the Medeiros clan as from my own, and vice versa. Their forces combined are too much fun, I hope you’ve had the pleasure of experiencing it.

On the last day of 2021 games after event 14/15 Justin had me beat. I won a tight race in event 14 but the point spread was way out of my favor. He’s done a good job of staying close the last few events. As we were cooling next to each other down his coach adamneiffer came and mentioned to him that they put an appeal in. I asked and they were contesting a judge count and were trying to snake the win from me. I leaned over and asked if they’d consider withdrawing the appeal and trying to make a deal… they exchanged looks, “what”?
That year Reebok offered a 10k bonus for event wins on top of the 3k from CrossFit. So I told
