Caitlin Clark proved a college card doesn’t have to become a footnote once an athlete turns pro. Her Iowa years are part of the reason people collect her.

Now JuJu Watkins, Julian Sayin and Arch Manning are building card histories before their traditional pro rookie cards even exist.

And Arch is especially interesting: he’s already gone from an exclusive Panini deal — including a card that sold for more than $100K — to an exclusive Topps deal while still at Texas.

We’ve spent decades treating the rookie card as one of the defining chapters of an athlete’s hobby story.

NIL just gave collectors access to the chapters that come before it.
