Finally! I can share with you the cover for my new book, Seven Princesses, which is now available for pre-order (link in bio). Why did I decide to name my book “Seven Princesses,” even though my mom HATED being called the “seven princesses”?

Because it is an act of power.

I want to take what they used to hurt my mother and now use it to empower her.

I wrote Seven Princesses with the aim of celebrating my mother, but it ultimately became a book about three women: me, my mother, and my grandmother. It excavates the choices we make as women—love, children, careers—even while the world tries to take those choices from us.

These aren’t the tales of a billion dollar founder or the CEO of some fortune 100 company. These are the small stories—the one about a single mother raising little girls; the one about a working mom who sometimes hates being a mother; and the one about a lawyer who’s stuck in a toxic marriage. These are the stories of everyday women who manage to do extraordinary things. Sometimes they are ugly stories, cowardly stories. But too often, they are also brave stories that get invisibilized merely because they are women’s stories.

Seven Princesses is the braided tale of my grandmother, my mother, and me. It is a exhibit of how much the lives of women have been threatened. How much they’ve sacrificed over countless generations. And how power can be achieved when we confront those things that would devalue us.

But Seven Princesses is also just a damn good story—one that keeps repeating itself—about a woman who gives up nearly everything for her daughter and a daughter who spends the rest of her life trying to prove that she was worth it.

This book is truly the culmination of everything I’ve done for the last decade. If you’ve ever wanted to support my work, pre-ordering a copy of my book is the single best way to do so.

I won’t do the comment prompt thing because I don’t want to swallow the comments with a random word).

Instead, I would love to hear from you below with YOUR small, ugly, cowardly, but still BRAVE story. <3

Also, thank you to leehwawedding for the beautiful accessories!
