A striking moment from the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi 🇮🇳

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping stood together at the front of the BRICS family photograph alongside leaders and representatives from other participating countries.

The photograph was taken on the second day of the summit at Bharat Mandapam, where leaders gathered for discussions on economic cooperation, global development, trade, technology, energy, artificial intelligence and other international issues.

The presence of Modi, Putin and Xi in the same frame attracted significant attention because India, Russia and China are three of the most prominent members of the BRICS grouping. The three leaders had also been seen together during other moments of the summit, including interactions on the sidelines.

The 2026 summit brought together an expanded BRICS group, with discussions extending beyond the bloc's original members to a broader group of emerging economies. The summit concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration, covering areas including economic cooperation, local-currency trade, digital payments, AI, climate action and reforms to international institutions.

One photograph, dozens of leaders and a summit focused on how emerging economies can cooperate on some of the world's biggest challenges.
