Mercedes-AMG just built a 193-mph V8 CLE — and only 30 will ever exist. 🏁🔥

Meet the Mercedes-AMG CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung — a road-legal, track-focused coupe that takes the CLE and turns almost everything up to eleven.

Under the hood is a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 646 PS (637 hp) and 850 Nm of torque. Unlike the regular CLE 53, this monster sends all of that power exclusively to the rear wheels through a 9-speed AMG transmission. 

And AMG didn’t just throw a bigger engine into the car.

The CLE 646 has been heavily reworked to become lighter and more focused. Around 170 kg (375 lb) was removed compared with the CLE 53, with extensive use of carbon fiber and other weight-saving measures. The rear seats and some sound insulation were also removed, turning the cabin into a much more track-oriented environment. 

Then there’s the aerodynamics. 👀

The car gets a large adjustable rear wing, an aggressive front diffuser and underbody aerodynamic work designed to generate serious downforce. Mercedes-AMG says the package can produce more than 250 kg of downforce at top speed.

The result?

⚡ 0–100 km/h in 3.9 seconds
🏎️ 310 km/h / 193 mph top speed
🔥 646 PS
💨 850 Nm
🛞 Rear-wheel drive
🏁 Only 30 examples worldwide

And every single one is hand-built in Affalterbach as part of Mercedes-Benz's ultra-exclusive Mythos Series. 

But here's the crazy part:

All 30 cars were already sold before the public world premiere. 😳

So this isn't simply another AMG trim level that you can walk into a dealership and order. It's a deliberately limited collector car — built in tiny numbers with a serious focus on driving dynamics.

In an era where performance cars are becoming increasingly complicated, electrified and technology-heavy, AMG just reminded everyone that there is still room for a brutally powerful V8.
