Today, we celebrate the 79th birthday of the United States Air Force. Established as an independent branch of the U.S. military on September 18, 1947, the Air Force has spent nearly eight decades serving and protecting our nation. Today, we thank the Airmen, veterans and families who have dedicated themselves to that mission and honor their service and sacrifice.
