Hillman College is back in session! 🎓📚🏾📺

Nearly 40 years after A Different World first introduced millions of viewers to life at the fictional HBCU Hillman College, the beloved series is returning with a new generation of students. The 10-episode sequel premieres September 24 on Netflix.

When the original series aired from 1987 to 1993, HBCU enrollment was rising significantly. Today, many HBCUs are once again seeing increased interest, applications and enrollment while other colleges are struggling to fill seats.

The new series follows Deborah Wayne, the daughter of Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, as she begins her freshman year at Hillman alongside a brand-new group of students. The reboot was filmed at Morehouse College, Spelman College and Clark Atlanta University, bringing real HBCU campuses and students into the production.

For many people, seeing Black students thrive on an HBCU campus helped them imagine themselves there. The new generation now gets to see that representation through a completely different lens.

Did A Different World make you want to attend an HBCU, or did you have another college dream? 👀🎓🏾
