CLE 646 OR M4 CS❓🔥 Mercedes-AMG just threw the CLE 646 Spezialanfertigung into the fight with a 646-hp 4.0L twin-turbo V8 and rear-wheel drive, lining it up perfectly against BMW’s 550-hp M4 CS and M xDrive.

The AMG sends 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) through a nine-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G, while the BMW uses an eight-speed M Steptronic and 650 Nm (479 lb-ft) from its 3.0L twin-turbo straight-six.

On paper, BMW wins the launch, hitting 62 mph in 3.4 seconds versus 3.9 seconds for the rear-drive Mercedes. The AMG answers with a 193-mph top speed, slightly above the M4 CS at 188 mph.

Mercedes also stripped roughly 170 kg from the CLE donor, fitted dedicated coil-over suspension, widened the body, added serious aero and completely ditched AWD for RWD.

Its tire setup is equally wild, running 305/30 ZR20 up front and 335/30 ZR20 out back, compared with the M4 CS on 275/35 ZR19 fronts and 285/30 ZR20 rears.

BMW’s advantage is that we already know what it can do around the Nordschleife, where the M4 CS logged an official 7:21.989 over the full 20.832-km lap.

Mercedes has not published an official Nürburgring time for the CLE 646 yet, which makes this comparison even more interesting.

Only 30 CLE 646 examples are being built, and Mercedes says the entire run was sold out before the car’s world premiere.

If you had one track day and could choose only one, are you taking the V8 RWD CLE 646 or the xDrive M4 CS?

What are your thoughts? 🤔💭
