Eric Glyman builds businesses that save people money.

His first was Paribus, an app that watched prices after you’d bought something and claimed the difference back when they dropped. Capital One bought it in 2016 and kept him on as a senior director in its card business.

That’s where the idea came from. Credit cards make their money when people spend, so points exist to encourage more of it. A card company has little reason to help anyone spend less. Ramp is a card company built specifically to help businesses spend less.

Ramp launched in February 2020, three weeks before New York shut down. Companies suddenly needed to cut costs, and Ramp was built for exactly that: flagging subscriptions nobody uses, blocking spending that goes over budget, and doing the expense reports itself.

A thousand companies switched in the first year. Two years in, revenue passed $100 million. In June, Ramp raised at a $44 billion valuation.

Presented by @usvcfund, which helps broaden access to venture capital for U.S. investors starting at $500.
