Wrigley Chaos • huskervb

Nebraska volleyball competed at iconic Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois on September 6, 2026… or at least they were supposed to.

The Big Ten vs SEC Volleyball challenge saw two games scheduled at the home of the Chicago Cubs; Kentucky Wildcats defeated Penn State 3-1 (Slide Two) in the early evening as Nebraska and Missouri was to follow. 43,000 fans, mostly Husker faithful, awaited as 3 points into the Cornhuskers match, chaos ensued. Condensation conditions on the court resulted in players, staff and event organizers attempting to dry the court in order to make the slippery court safe for play. Play resumed for 15 points before the game would be delayed again. During delays, the stadium erupted in dance battles between players, congo lines in the outfield and still lots of towels and leaf blowers. In the hours supposed to be spent playing volleyball, the game would be called and postponed not to be rescheduled at Wrigley Field.

Regardless of the outcome, volleyball at Wrigley Field was a true once in a lifetime event. Disappointed about not many game moments, but spending the day with Husker fans taking the ballpark over and dancing through the delays to me was very rewarding. Throughout such a unique event, the brightest smiles and laughs I had was spent capturing the fans; long story short Husker nation is a blessing to work with. More on this in a future post planned in the next month or so.

Big thanks to izzypinedacreative • raffivtn • tashruss_ for the opportunities to hang with the volleyball content squad in recent weeks, best out there!
