The offer was everything young athletes dream about: Elite coaching, a full ride.

On one condition: He’d have to leave home.

His parents, Dan and Denise Crouch said no. They believed proximity mattered more than prestige.
So instead, they built their lives around Brock.

Half the year in Mammoth. Half the year in Carlsbad.

His dad left a 20-year career to travel with him. His mom coordinated schools, travel, training, and one family rule they never broke: One parent would always be there for Brock’s first run at every major competition.

Years later, Brock survived an avalanche, returned to elite competition, and earned places on the U.S. national teams in both snowboarding and surfing.
