My locs turn 6 this October 12th, and honestly, this journey has taught me more than just patience. I grew up hearing that black hair has a limit. That it doesn’t grow, that it breaks, that it stops, that it doesn’t “do” length the way other textures do. I believed it for a long time. 

Starting this loc journey was the first time I decided to stop listening to that narrative and just watch what my own hair would do if I gave her consistency, care, and time. Six years later, I have my answer.

If you’re in the early stages of your journey and it feels slow, or you’re second-guessing whether it’s “working” baby I promise you, it is. Growth doesn’t always look like what you expect, and ima tell you it’s not as fast as you want lol but it’s happening. 

Stay consistent. Trust it. This is what six years of trusting the process looks like.
