Smoke and fire were seen at Russia’s Samara oil refinery on Tuesday after Ukraine said its forces had struck oil refineries in Samara and Ufa.⁣
⁣
Reuters verified the location of the footage by matching buildings, chimneys and trees with satellite imagery. The direction of the fire also matched the location of the Kuibyshev refinery.⁣
⁣
Ukraine’s General Staff said the strikes were carried out on Monday and overnight into Tuesday, causing fires at both sites.⁣
⁣
The strikes targeted the Bashneft-UNPZ refinery in Russia’s Bashkortostan region, around 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine, and the Kuibyshev refinery in Samara Oblast, around 910 kilometers away.⁣
