Russian President Vladimir Putin has urged citizens to take part in a three-day parliamentary election starting Friday.⁣
⁣
In a televised address, Putin framed participation in the vote as a demonstration of national unity and support for Russia’s soldiers in Ukraine.⁣
⁣
He said voting would help secure Russia’s victory and show resolve in the face of external pressure.⁣
⁣
The election will determine the 450-seat State Duma, which has consistently approved major Kremlin initiatives. The ruling United Russia party is widely expected to retain its dominance.⁣
⁣
The vote comes as Russia’s economy faces pressure and some opinion polls show growing public concern about the impact of the conflict. Most anti-war candidates have been excluded from the ballot.⁣
⁣
Putin said the election would be a collective response to those seeking to weaken Russia, undermine its sovereignty and interfere with its right to determine its own future.⁣
