Your birth card is who you are. Your ruling card is how you operate. The role runs on the distance between them.

Three women walked through the same door. The cards split them the way history did.

Diana is the A♠️ ruled by the 3♦️. The Ace is the beginning, and she was the first to enter that family in the television age. 

She set the terms the other two had to answer. The Three never settles. She had the gap and would not close it.

Catherine is the 5♠️ ruled by the K♥️. Five is change, Spades is work. She changed the role from inside instead of leaving. 

Her Mars era ran a 9♠️ from 2008 to 2019, the end of an ordinary life, across the engagement, the wedding and three children.

Meghan is the 9♦️ and she has no ruling card at all. Leos are dealt none, so the Nine fills every seat she has. Birth, environment, displacement, ruling card, one card in all four.

The institution runs on performing a role that is not you. She is the only one of the three with no second face to perform it with. And she is the one who left.

One observation, not a law. Diana’s Mars era from 1987 to 2000 runs the 5♠️. Meghan’s Jupiter era from 2017 to 2030 carries the same card. Both cover the years each one walked out. Catherine is the 5♠️, and she stayed. Three people is a small sample and I looked at those eras after I saw it.
