EA Sports might have just messed up! 👀

After a recent update to NCAA Football 27, Zac Griffin spotted a new asset in the game. A new orange jersey colorway was discovered in the base game files (not a modded version). The new tops aren't accessible in the game initially, but with some light modding, they can be used in games.

One of the more interesting elements of this is the file names. The orange jerseys, along with the navy and white colorways, are all indicated with 2024, which is a year before Auburn's partnership with Nike began.

So does that mean Auburn is absolutely wearing orange jerseys this year?

No, not at all. It's an interesting find, for sure, but it could be a few things. EA Sports could have accidentally included it. It could have been prepped two years ago in anticipation of the Nike deal, which would explain the year in the file name. It also very well could have been planned for the first year with Nike but shelved after the football team continued to not meet expectations.

EA Sports has a history of leaking uniform designs. But they've also included wrong items before - even for Auburn! Prior to the NCAA 2012 edition releasing, game trailers included Auburn in navy pants, which never made it onto the field. There haven't been any other rumors or evidence that the blue pants were planned otherwise.

Which side of the orange jersey fence you sit on will determine how you feel about this finding. Do you want to see the orange stay in the closet and be a memory of the past? I don't think you have anything to worry about here.

Do you wish Auburn would resurrect the orange after nearly fifty years? I wouldn't take this as gospel and believe it will actually happen.
