VIKRAMA • SHALIVAHANA

Two names. Two era-traditions. Two powerful strands of India's cultural memory.

👑 VIKRAMA — LEGACY

Vikramaditya became one of the most celebrated royal names in Indian tradition—deeply associated with Ujjain, learning, literature, justice and kingship.

The Vikrama Samvat calendar tradition further carried the name Vikrama across generations.

🗓️ SHALIVAHANA — TRADITION

Shalivahana occupies a similarly fascinating place in Indian literary and cultural memory, particularly in traditions associated with the Deccan.

Later tradition also connects his name with the Shaka era—a calendar era that remains part of India's timekeeping traditions.
