The paddock couldn’t explain his pace. So they tested the rider. He was clean.
The advantage was a Belgian engineer’s idea: delete both rear shocks, run one long unit lying flat under the tank, and let the swingarm work it as a lever.

Rear travel went from about four
inches to over six — and twin-shock bikes were finished.
