Kenny Roberts won the 1975 Indy Mile on a TZ750 flat-tracker — a two-stroke Grand Prix engine in a dirt-track frame, no front brake, and around 145 mph. Then he voted for the rule that banned it. He said it was going to kill someone and he didn’t want it to be him.

Also on the list: the Norton rotary legislated out as reigning champion; the Moto Guzzi V8’s magnesium dustbin fairing outlawed by a shape; the supercharger ban of 1946 that has never been repealed, and the Honda six that won all ten races of 1966 and was killed twice over by one rule change.
