The 500cc World Championship ran from 1949 to 2001. Two-stroke. 180 horsepower. No electronics. No traction control. Just you and a powerband that could destroy you in a fraction of a second.

In 2001, Valentino Rossi won the final title on the Honda NSR500. Then the FIM replaced the class with 4-stroke MotoGP.

The last race was held at Valencia. No ceremony. No parade. The machines were loaded into transporters and never raced at this level again.
